Our Story
Pups on the Prairie was created from over a decade of hands-on experience working with dogs and a clear intention to build a more thoughtful approach to dog care.
Natalie began working with dogs more than 10 years ago while completing her bachelor’s degree in Arts and Entertainment Management. While building her education and professional foundation, she simultaneously developed her work in dog care, gaining early experience through hands on roles that shaped the direction of her career.
Her first business was a boarding and dog walking company in Brooklyn, New York. There, she built a strong foundation in daily care routines, client communication, and the responsibilities of running a small dog care operation in a fast-paced urban environment.
After relocating to Colorado, she expanded her work to include boarding, hiking, and wedding pet coordination. These experiences allowed her to work closely with dogs in a wide range of environments, temperaments, and real world situations while continuing to refine her approach to care, structure, and behavior. She is also a certified dog trainer and serves in a leadership role with Paws Co Rescue, where she remains actively involved in rescue and placement efforts.
Over time, working across different areas of the industry made one thing clear: not every environment is designed with the dog’s experience in mind. Through observing and working alongside a variety of care model, including high-volume boarding and daycare settings. Natalie saw how overcrowding, overstimulation, and inconsistent structure could impact dogs on a daily basis. Those experiences shaped a clear direction for what she did and did not want to create. Pups on the Prairie was built as a direct response to that perspective.
Located in Pierce, Colorado, the facility is designed around space, routine, and calm structure. With over an acre of outdoor space, intentional group sizing, and individualized care, the goal is to create an environment where dogs are supported as individuals and given the ability to move, rest, and engage at a balanced pace.
At home, Natalie’s two dogs, Beanie and D.O.G., continue to influence her approach to care and daily structure, reinforcing the importance of consistency, personality awareness, and environment in a dog’s overall well being.
Pups on the Prairie exist to offer something more intentional than traditional boarding and daycare models—care built on experience, observation, and a commitment to doing things differently for the dogs who rely on it.
This is care built around the dog’s experience, not the volume of dogs in a space.
